Polyurethane elastomers are highly sophisticated compounds which have proven
their worth in many types of industry – thanks to their outstanding mechanical and dynamic properties. SchaeferRolls
uses polyether- and polyester-based polyurethane systems developed in-house,
manufactured via rotational or hot/mold/vertical casting depending on their
application. SchaeferRolls polyurethane covers are designed to be as resistant
as possible to moisture, chemicals, heat and wear; making them perfectly suited
to maximum linear loads and speeds as a result of their excellent dynamic
properties and special design. Outstanding load capacities and superb
resistance to wear mean you can combine any kind of surface designs.
Roll positions subject to particularly high loads employ a special metal binding
system with a functional binding layer (base layer) and reactive intermediate
layer (‘interleafing’). This ensures stable adhesion to the roll body and ensures forces are
transferred between the different materials, even under maximum dynamic loads.
