New Generation of polyurethane roll covers
By using an innovative polyurethane material and an ingenious cover structure,
we have considerably increased drilling and grooving depths of press rolls and
suction press rolls – without affecting the stability of the cover surface. cyclus 3 polyurethane offers excellent wear resistance and unparalleled dynamic strength.
The combination of material properties, cover design and our special production
processes makes it possible to groove cyclus 3 covers up to a depth of 3 mm and to blind drill them up to a depth of 11 mm,
while maintaining the same drill depth across the whole width of the roll
cover. The result: efficient dewatering due to significantly improved water
storage volumes and uniform hydraulic pressures in the roll nip. In addition,
the specific cover structure allows for more grinding allowance, hence for
repeated regrooving: cyclus 3 covers can be given a three millimeter groove three times before needing to be
replaced. cyclus 3 covers provide three full lifecycles, thus considerably reducing the roll cover’s total cost of ownership.
Another process innovation was accomplished by creating the SchaeferRolls SurfaceOptimizer, a computer simulation that makes it possible to optimize roll cover surfaces
and plan the dewatering performance on site with the customer.
