U.coat: Best running time results in the film press at Kuebler & Niethammer
The Kuebler & Niethammer paper factory in Kriebstein (Germany) was able to significantly
increase the running time of the applicator roll in the PM1 film press through
the use of a U.coat polyurethane cover from SchaeferRolls.
According to Michael Moser, Production Manager at Kuebler & Niethammer, the U.coat roll cover displayed very positive running time
characteristics, in relation to service life, as well as coating application
quality. “We are very satisfied”, Michael Moser reports. “We have achieved nearly double the running time of the conventional rubber roll
covers and would certainly have been able to run longer without any problem.
The coating application was very homogeneous during the entire running time.”
Kuebler & Niethammer produces 85,000 t of coated offset papers per annum.
In addition to the implementation at Kuebler & Niethammer, SchaeferRolls` U.coat roll covers are running with great success in
two additional film presses in German-speaking countries. In one application,
the best results are being achieved in a combined operation with starch and
coating. In another implementation, three customer-specifically, optimized
HybriFlex versions in a dual layer design have already been delivered, which
have excelled through extraordinary mechanical robustness and an excellent life
time.
